Day 176-178 Jurien Bay to Kalbarri

With a stop to a dog kennel on the way

sunny 30 °C

Jurien Bay was a great little coastal town and the Jurien Bay Tourist Park was very good. Our site had plenty of shade and a small picnic table. We were right near the beach so I got to go on walks with Mum every day. I'm giving it 3 1/2 paws out of 5 paws.

Well I might as well rename this blog 'One dog's journey around Australian dog kennels'. Yet again I was separated from my parents. The campsite at Kalbarri took dogs but there weren't any doggy daycare places near Kalbarri so I ended up staying at Arthur Road Kennels in Walkaway. (near Geraldton). Mum and Dad dropped me off and away they went up to Kalbarri for three days. And boy did they take advantage of not having me around.

One morning they went canoeing (Kalbarri Boat Hire & Canoe Safaris) down the Murchison River. The person running the tour told them that to canoe well you had to have good communication skills with your partner and work as a team. Mum wondered whether she should change partners.

Communication is the key!

They also spent an afternoon at Kalbarri National Park and managed to do a bit of walking. (although from the photos I've seen they seem to do more posing than walking) The oldies said the scenery was beautiful.

They did manage to do some more walking (and posing) around the coastal cliffs. They did the Mushroom Rock Walk Trail and saw some fantastic views at Pot Alley (could be called Pot Belly for some people) and Red Bluff.

Surely it's not that cold!

The great thing about being by the coast is that you get to see lots of sunsets. After seeing one sunset they started driving back to the campsite when they saw the full moon rising. Of course they stopped and posed for photos with the moon.

Dad looking a bit beefy. Must be all that posing.

To finish off their trip in Kalbarri the oldies decided to do a 2 hour quad bike tour along Wagoe Beach (Wagoe Beach Quad Bike Tours). Mum was too scared to drive one herself so poor Dad had to have her as a passenger. Dad drove up and down dunes (he got to 70kph!) and along the beach where they saw huge waves crashing into the reefs. They would have loved to pose for photos but unfortunately they forgot their camera in the car. Idiots!
